TikTok’s “For You” algorithm operates through continuous optimization. Watch time, pauses, replays, and micro-interactions inform what is amplified next. Over time, this creates highly personalized exposure patterns that shape perspective incrementally.
How To Export Your Data
Step 1: Open TikTok Settings
Open the TikTok app on your child’s device.
Tap the profile icon in the bottom right corner.
Tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top right.
Select “Settings and privacy.”
Step 2: Request Your Data
Scroll down and tap “Account.”
Select “Download your data.”
Choose “Request data” and select the data format.
We recommend selecting JSON for faster processing.
Step 3: Select Data
Choose which information you would like to include in the export.
Select categories related to viewed content, interactions, searches, and followed accounts. Private messages are not required.
You remain in control of what is included. A more complete export of feed and engagement activity ensures clearer pattern visibility. If categories are excluded, those signals cannot be incorporated into the brief.
Step 4: Wait for Email
TikTok will send a download link to the account’s registered email address within approximately 2 to 4 days.
Step 5: Download the File
Open the email and click the download link.
Download the data file containing your child’s activity data to your device.
