How To Export Your Data
Step 1: Open Instagram Settings
Open Instagram on your child’s device.
Tap the profile icon. Then tap the menu icon with three lines in the top right corner.
Step 2: Request Download
Tap “Accounts Center” at the top.
Select “Your information and permissions,” then select “Export your information.”
Tap “Create export,” then select “Export to device.”
Step 3: Select Data Range
You will be redirected to the “Confirm your export” page.
Select the desired date range and choose which information to include.
Select categories related to viewed content, interactions, searches, and followed accounts. Private messages are not required.
You remain in control of what is included. A more complete export of feed and engagement activity provides clearer pattern visibility. If information is excluded, those signals cannot be incorporated into the brief.
Step 4: Choose Format and Request
Select format as “JSON” and media quality as “Higher quality.”
Tap “Start export.”
Step 5: Wait for Download
Instagram typically requires 24 to 48 hours to prepare the file.
You will receive an email notification once the export is ready for download.
